Altera is an offensive Servant, specialized in dealing damage through normal command cards instead of her Noble Phantasm. Aside from this, she is also able to function as a secondary damage dealer, provided there is another ally who can make use of the stars she generates, as well as Tactics’ Noble Phantasm damage buff and Photon Ray’s defense down. She also possesses a healing skill, which allows her to last slightly longer on the battlefield.
All these make Altera a highly flexible Servant. However, she doesn’t excel in any other field other than her heavy-hitting Brave chain (which would later on be eclipsed by those able to make use of criticals).
Pros
One of the best non-Berserker heavy hitters
Photon Ray, can be used to create powerful Brave Chains, or as a prelude to maximize the damage of other Servants’ Noble Phantasms.
Crest of the Star’s ATK buff lasts for three turns, thereby increasing the damage she deals for a longer period compared to other Servants (for example, - Altria’s potent Mana Burst only lasts for one turn.)
Possesses a moderate level of supporting function, for situations where she is not the main damage dealer. These functions, however, can be used to benefit herself otherwise.
Cons
Her Noble Phantasm damage is lower compared to Altria Pendragon’s Excalibur, especially as the latter will get her Noble Phantasm upgrade much earlier.
As her skillset is not really focused on a single role, she may feel rather mediocre in several phases of the game (especially before her Noble Phantasm and skill upgrades).
Due to high ascension and skill enhancement costs, she is one of the more expensive Servants to raise.
Strategies & Tips
Altera’s main potential lies in how she can be used to maximize damage in a single turn. She can be used as the main damage dealer; in this case, it would be best to focus your resources on a NPXB Brave Chain to the boss (with X being any of her other cards, though Buster is still preferred).
Another way to use her is to use Photon Ray as the first Noble Phantasm in a Noble Phantasm chain. If there is a more potent damage dealer on the field, Altera can be used to provide critical stars, Noble Phantasm damage up, as well as using Photon Ray to apply a defense down the turn before her ally does the actual burst.
Noble Phantasm
Photon Ray is an Area-of-Effect Noble Phantasm. It deals a medium amount of damage against all enemies. Its greatest asset is the defense buff it applies, making this Noble Phantasm a suitable starter for Brave Chains and Noble Phantasm chains.
After the NP rank-up quest, Her Noble Phantasm now deals a respectable amount of damage, and with the addition of a critical absorb skill, she is now able to perform higher-damage burst phases utilizing the critical mechanic (The quest is currently unavailable on the EN ver).
Tactics and Charisma complement each other, and Altera can provide critical stars for Gilgamesh. The team’s deck will also be rather balanced, and is flexible enough to use both Arts-inclined Servants or Buster-inclined ones as the final member. Altera also covers Gilgamesh’s weakness against Lancers.
The constant healing and buffs will help Altera in both surviving and dealing damage. Hans’ star generation, combined with Crest of the Star, will also make for more reliable critical bursts, which are further amplified by Hans’ critical damage buff.

Tactics B: Will be leveled second. A fairly straightforward skill, this skill allows Altera to either increase her own NP damage, or support her other allies' NP depending on the situation.
Natural Body D: will be leveled last. Heals Altera and increases resistance to ATK debuffs. This skill is a utility skill, allowing Altera to survive longer in the field and preventing enemies’ ATK debuffs from impairing her performance. However, as it is more of a bonus rather than directly assisting her role. After the skill rank-up quest, the skill comes with a bonus to critical absorption for one turn; hence it should be leveled over Tactics for the cooldown (The quest is currently unavailable on the EN ver).
Star Emblem: Should be leveled first. Altera’s main damage buff, it gives an ATK buff and generates some stars. The main thing about this skill is that the buff lasts for three turns, giving Altera much increased damage while it is active.

Altera’s QAABB deck provides a good balance between damage and Noble Phantasm gauge generation. As such, it can be considered to be the best deck available to her (assuming that there has to be at least one card of each type in the deck).
