Fionn suffers from a lot of things, but the most notable one is his bad NP gain. Even after his Strengthening Quest - which allows his first skill to buff NP gain as well - his performance in this regard is still subpar, which makes him a somewhat poor damage dealer as it means that he cannot unleash his main NP as often. Additionally, his second skill’s Evasion is chance-based unless it’s max leveled, meaning that he may often die randomly - and even at maximum level, said skill has an unprecedentedly long cooldown of 10 turns.
Even so, Fionn has a couple of redeeming qualities, though it is probably not enough to cover all his shortcomings. Despite the cooldown, Taunt is a highly useful skill, able to save the team from certain defeat in some situations. Additionally, his first skill being party-wide means that he is able to contribute something to the team, though one may argue that critical gain up means relatively little for Arts-oriented Servants. Lastly, his NP’s mental debuff immunity allows him to cover his second skill’s demerit, although the demerit itself is situational to begin with.

Strategies & Tips
Fionn is best used with an Arts support-heavy team, in order to cover his bad NP gain and middling NP damage. In combat, he should only use his Taunt in the direst of situations, as most of the time, it can only be used once due to the long cooldown. His first skill should mainly be used to buff his own NP gain, while his third skill is best used on his NP turn. Due to his bad base NP gain, it is best to focus on creating Arts chains instead of things like AQA Brave chains.
Noble Phantasm
Mac an Luin: Undefeated Violet Flower deals damage to all opponents, reducing their attack slightly. On the other hand, Fionn himself gains mental debuff immunity for three turns, effectively rendering him immune to charms, stuns, and skill seals for the duration. While it has received an upgrade, Fionn only possessing one Arts performance buff means that its damage cannot compete with SSRs - though it is by all means decent when compared with his fellow SR peers. What truly hurts this NP, however, is Fionn’s horrid NP gain, which means that it can’t be used nearly as often as other Servants’ NP.
Tamamo is one of the most important Servants for Fionn, as both her Arts buff and NP charge directly help Fionn in gaining NP, and for the former, also in dealing damage. Additionally, Tamamo also provides healing, which can be greatly useful if Fionn’s Evasion somehow misses. Her cooldown reduction also helps his second skill, effectively reducing about 2 turns from its cooldown.
Caster Gilgamesh’s Arts up and stargen up goes in hand with Fionn’s first skill, allowing the party to generate large amounts of stars and greatly increasing the team’s NP gain. As Gilgamesh lacks a survivability function aside of his NP, Fionn’s second skill allows them to survive dire situations.
Zhuge Liang is included in this list solely for his NP charging skills, which essentially eliminates concerns over Fionn’s bad NP gain, at least in shorter fights. The damage increase he provides through the attack up and NP, as well as his triple Arts deck, allows Fionn to make more impact in a shorter time period.
While this CE type does not directly address Fionn’s NP gain issue, it does help his occasional NP hit much harder, thus somewhat making up for the disadvantage. Additionally, the damage increase scales really well with most support Servants.
This CE type is rather alluring for Fionn as they are able to reduce the disadvantage his base NP gain poses, while still giving him an overall damage increase. Naturally, however, the damage increase scales worse compared to NP damage up CEs.
This CE type allows Fionn to make the most use of his critical star gain buff, especially in Arts teams where star gain via normal hits are somewhat scarce. Performing a critical also doubles the amount of NP gained, which indirectly mitigates his biggest issue.

Clairvoyance B / Clairvoyance (Beauty) B++ Before its upgrade, as with all Clairvoyance-type skills, this skill is less useful due to Arts cards’ low base star generation rate. After its upgrade, it also increases NP gain and affects all party members, giving Fionn some extent of utility. It also somewhat helps Fionn’s NP gain, making it a valuable asset for longer fights.
Trouble With Women A Applies a 1-turn Taunt on self, as well as a chance-based Evasion. True to the skill’s name, its built-in demerit makes Fionn terribly easy to charm by female enemies. While the Evasion chance increases with every skill level, its terribly long cooldown makes this skill’s worth highly questionable.
Magecraft B Increases Fionn’s Arts cards’ performance for one turn. While it has a slightly lower percentage compared to other similar skills, it is still his main damage increasing skill, and it also brings his Arts cards’ NP gain to a decent level for one turn, benefiting Fionn’s possible NPAA Brave chain.

Fionn’s QQAAB deck is somewhat wasted, as his low hitcount means that his Quick cards cannot generate critical stars reliably. Combined with his poor NP gain, his Quick cards are little more than ‘filler’ cards. Instead, he relies heavily on his Arts cards, as gaining NP via Arts chains is more or less his main way to use his NP.
