[JP] Romulus’ defining trait is being able to specialize on both attacking and defending, while having the potential to boost his performance even more with “God Mode”, which is activated through Imperial Privilege.
[NA] Romulus’ offense relies more on his 3rd skill, so his full power isn’t unlocked in NA yet. He still survives rather well, though.
Pros
God Mode through Imperial Privilage enables him to surpass the boundaries set by his stats
Decent survivability and offense
Highest AoE Lancer NP damage in NA, 2nd highest in JP
Big heal skills
Cons
Full offense is based on his upgrade
Imperial Privilege is based on chance
Weak NP gain
Strategies & Tips
Romulus is a both a damage dealer and a survivalist. This makes him rather flexible in terms of teambuilding, as you can put him with Servants who can aid either or both of his strengths. Generally, if one is going for defense, one would use his God Mode when taking hits, and use his guts when you need him to revive. If one is going to defense, one would utilize God Mode and his Buster up for his NP or NP brave chains for maximum damage.
Noble Phantasm
Romulus’ NP is an AoE Buster NP that is able to boost the party’s attack by 10-30%. Unbuffed, it does average NP5 damage. If Romulus’ God Mode chance hits, along with his Buster up, it is able to hit fairly hard. The atk up is small, but it’s mostly utilized for NPBB brave chains to maximize Romulus’ damage. If stacked with his Imperial Privilege, his attack stats are boosted by 54%.
Hans provides Arts cards to increase chances for Arts chains, aiding Romulus’ NP gain. Hans is also able to stack Atk and Def buffs, while also being able to heal, aiding Romulus’ overall performance.
Shakespeare is able to provide more Arts chances for Arts chains as well, and can boost Romulus’ Buster damage. When Shakespeare gets his 3rd skill upgrade, he is also able to charge Romulus’ NP.
Provides offensive and defensive buffs through his skills and NP, as well as charging the party’s NP gauge, which aids Romulus’ overall performance and NP gain.
Caesar is able to boost Romulus NP damage, and his Charisma skill will boost Romulus’ overall damage in dealing attacks. Romulus’ survival is also reliable enough to counter the defense demerit that comes with Caesar’s Incitement EX.
Merlin is a staple for Buster teams, and Romulus goes well with him in particular. Merlin is able to boost his Buster and atk, making Romulus hit even harder than when paired with anyone else.
Post-upgrade Mashu is able to buff Romulus’ defense and attack considerably, and this stacks with his own buffs well, making Romulus go for an overall 74% boost in atk and def with Mashu’s buffs.
Ramesses’ 3rd skill boosts buff rate, which increases the rate of Imperial Privilege hittiing to 100%. This makes Romulus achieve God Mode with full success, and both of them would be hitting hard against enemies.
As Romulus already has an Atk up and a Buster up, an NP damage CE would multiply to his buffs, making his NP damage scale very highly, almost on par with ST NPs.

Upgrade Priority
Natural Body C / Cooldown: 7-5 Increase ATK Debuff Resist (3 turns) Restore HP
A great heal skill with some bonuses. It heals 2500 HP at max level, which is pretty useful to have at it’s CD.
Imperial Privilege EX / Cooldown: 7-5 60% chance to increase ATK (3 turns) 60% chance to increase DEF (3 turns) Restore HP
Romulus’s God Mode is activated through this skill. At max, it scales to a whopping 44% maximum boost in attack and defense, and heals for a great 3400HP. It boosts his stats greatly, making them on par to those of an SR’s. It also heals for a considerably high amount, and thus is useful for either offense or survival. In exchange, it suffers from a 60% chance to hit.
Septem Colles A / Cooldown: 8-6 [Strengthening Upgrade] Apply Guts (1 time) (1 turn) Increase in Buster Performance
In case one of the effects in Imperial Privilege doesn’t hit, this skill is considered as an insurance. It gives both offensive and defensive effects, making Romulus’ performance not entirely reliant on his Imperial Privilege. And in case the ATK up from Imperial Privilege hits, the Buster up multiplies with it, making Romulus’ NP and Busters hit fairly hard, surpassing those of SRs for that turn. This skill is also targetable, making it handy in case you need to use it on a friend.

Romulus comes with the staple Lancer QQABB deck, which frankly limits him. A QAABB deck would’ve been better to help his NP gain, so he would have access to his NP quicker. The additional Quick doesn’t help his stargen in any way, but rather it limits his overall damage due to the innate multiplier of the Quick card.
