[JP] Fergus is a great offensive Saber who can both deal damage and take on hits. He’s able to stack an equivalent of 50% atk up and 45% def up, which also comes along with a dodge, good NP damage, and Buster chains, making him all-around strong in both departments.
Pros
Great Stat distribution that complements his skillset.
BBB deck and buffs give him high offensive power.
Def buffs and dodge make way for good survival capability.
NP deals decent damage with interlude and buff.
Cons
Weak NP charge due to deck.
2nd skill has a slightly annoying demerit.
Strategies & Tips
Fergus acts as a damage dealer or as a wave clearer. As a damage dealer, he is able to land powerful hits while also being able to take them. Since he covers his own offense and defense well enough, pairing him with supports only increases his strength on both fronts. One would do best to pair him with supports who can heal or stack atk and def buffs on him, as well as supports who can give him different buffs, to maximize his damage.
Hans provides Arts cards to increase Arts chains, giving Fergus more chances to charge his NP. He also is able to stack atk and def ups for Fergus, as well as heal him, improving his overall performance.
He is able to immediately counter Fergus’ only weakness, his NP gain. And while doing so he is also able to stack atk and def buffs for him, improving his performance even more.
Merlin is able to counter Fergus’ weak NP gain passively, while also increasing his damage significantly with his 3-turn Buster up and atk up. He is also able to heal and increase Fergus’ max HP, significantly boosting Fergus’ performance and countering all his weaknesses.
Shakespeare deals a decent amount of NP damage if buffed by his own Buster buff, so there is some worth in buffing his NP. However, one must not expect high numbers from it still.
When equipped on Fergus Mac Roich, Increase Buster Card performance of all allies by 10% and NP damage by 10% while on the field.

Fergus’ NP does good damage due to its interlude, and gives a 20% def debuff and debuff resistance to the enemy party. While the debuff resistance is negligible, the def debuff is important. If one uses his attack up along with it, it stacks to give him 50% atk up for 3 turns. This would give him atk almost on par with SRs, and this would be further backed up by his powerful Buster deck.

Upgrade Priority
Valor A / Cooldown: 7-5 Increase Atk (3 turns) Increase Mental Debuff Resistance (3 turns)
An important skill to Fergus, this lets him hit hard with his Busters and his NP. The atk up maxes out at 30%, which is standard. The Mental debuff resistance, while niche, is still a useful tool to have, and maxes out at 40%. It also comes with a good and consistent duration/CD ratio, which means you’ll have it on Fergus for more than half of the time he’s on the field.
Defiant B / Cooldown: 7-5 Increase Def (3 turns) Decrease Atk buff hit rate (3 turns) (Demerit)
A def up that maxes at 25%, this skill is key to Fergus’ survival. While the demerit is rather unsavory, one can get around it with adjusting timing by using the Atk up before the def up.
An evade lets Fergus dodge deadly hits like Noble Phantasms, but this also lets him stack def ups with his 2nd skill. Put together, one would get 45% def up for 3 turns, which is very good considering it also comes with a 1-turn dodge. While the CDs don’t match exactly, it is still good to consider as it means one gets almost 50% amount of def up for half of the time Fergus is on field.
Skill Priority: 3/2/1 for more defense, 1/3/2 for more offense

Fergus offensive strength isn’t just because of his 50% atk, he also has a QABBB deck. Granted, it gives him low NP gain, but with the possible boost on his atk, he pays it back by dealing great amounts of damage in 3 turns. With 50% increase in attack, NP5, and Buster chains, Fergus deals a lot of pain in the damage department.
